We went back to the basics with some bread and a net. Lily caught some nice Bluegills and I caught a soft-shell turtle that ended up in the loss of my flip flop. Besides losing my footwear though, this was a fun time. The minnows she caught in the net were received well by both the Bass and the Bluegill. No matter how old I get, there is no better drug than seeing a bobber go under, especially the way the Bass were hitting it. I think the net is always a good thing for children because it allows for more discovery than just the hook and line. It also helps when you have a short attention span since it is a less passive approach. This coming Friday, we will try the plastic container approach.
The video above is Lily's first and she is a little bit upset about the clarity, but I told her it is a learning process. Sometimes I take hundreds of pictures that I end up deleting, and she wants her own camera, so she needs the practice. Its not perfect but I am posting it anyway because it's good to see where we started from and to have that as a gauge for our progression. I look forward to seeing the world through her lens. It will be interesting to see what things warrant her attention and make their way to her SD card.
